Closure of Richard House Children's Hospice
Richard House children's hospice in Newham will close on Thursday 18th December.
Over recent months the North East London Integrated Care Board (NEL ICB) have been working closely with Richard House (Richard House Drive, Beckton, E16 3RG) in the hope of securing its long-term future. Unfortunately, despite this, the Trustees have concluded that the challenges they face are too great and taken the difficult decision to close on 18 December.
Haven House children’s hospice, (The White House, High Road, Woodford Green IG8 9LB) will welcome children and families directly affected by the closure to ensure they continue to receive the care and support they need.
Under the detailed handover plan agreed with both Richard House and Haven House:
- All end-of-life care will be provided by Haven House, including both on-site support and care at home.
- Haven House will offer on-site respite to families who had bookings from the date of Richard House’s closure.
- Haven House will offer practical and emotional support to families during the transition.
- NEL ICB are also exploring alternative arrangements for hospice-at-home care while Haven House works to expand this service across north east London.
