Based on our visit we recommend the following:

  1. Continue to encourage the resident who is unable to venture out of the care home unaided to engage in external activities.
  2. Continue to provide more regular and in-depth safeguarding training to all staff to ensure a clear understanding of the subject, so that they are aware of its importance and enable staff to respond appropriately to any concerns raised.
  3. Teach residents the compliments and complaints procedure.
  4. Ensure that there are air fresheners are around the home as there was an unpleasant smell in the lounge area during the visit.
  5. Residents and staff should have been able to be interviewed privately without the input from the manager.
