Annual Report 2024–2025: Unlocking the power of people-driven care

In 2024/2025, Healthwatch Newham has worked tirelessly to ensure that local people’s experiences shape the future of health and social care. By listening, observing, and advocating, the team has helped services respond more effectively to the needs of Newham’s diverse communities.

Healthwatch Newham has continued to champion local voices, gathering feedback from over 1,800 residents across diverse communities. From focus groups with Deaf residents, autistic adults, and migrant women, to Enter and View visits in hospitals and care homes, we’ve highlighted what’s working and identified where services need to improve. Our work has directly influenced local health and care providers, leading to improvements in cancer screening, GP accessibility, safeguarding, and inpatient care at Newham University Hospital. Volunteers and staff have worked tirelessly to ensure residents’ experiences shape decisions at both borough and system levels.

Be part of the change and explore the full story of how we’ve put people at the heart of care this year.
